Cooperstudio (my art studio) is now on Facebook:
facebook.com/cooperartstudio
I will post notices of upcoming shows, reviews, and other professional news there. I might still blog about events a bit here, but this is more for personal musings and day-to-day studio/barn life.
Speaking of which, right now my day-to-day life has been last-minute preps for a short-notice holiday show/sale put on by TAG, an artist group I’m in. A member, Steven Derks, who owns a gallery generously offered his space for a Small Works show. Good news for me, as I’ve been doing a series of tiny abstract paintings on 4x5” canvases for the past several months, and didn’t know what to do with them!

I work on these paintings as a breather, a break, whenever I’m stuck on the larger pieces, or waiting for something to dry, or just feel like it because I enjoy the process. It feels like composing music. And there’s something about the small format I find very freeing.
I also use the “Little Jewels,” as I call them (in my mind), to experiment with compositional and spiritual elements that I sometimes transfer to the larger paintings. It’s all intertwined.
